Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 55: Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 2

It took me so long to publish “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 1″ that I thought I’d try to make it up to you by pushing out the sequel quickly! Please listen now to episode 55, “Clash of the Pirate Kings, Part 2,” or subscribe via iTunes. This episode features the following segments:

  • Weighing Anchor:NewbieDM of NewbieDM.com calls for your initiative roll.
  • The Staging Area: I briefly remind listeners of how “Clash of the Pirate Kings, Part 1” ended, referring listeners to the new “Story Thus Far” episode for summaries of the campaign to date.
  • The Weather Report: As the PCs prepare to scuttle the Headreaver, the Research Unit of the Qwrth Institute—previously encountered in “Feed the Dead, Part 1,” returns with a dire warning … and dire pursuers!
  • The Prop Shop: I don’t have much to say about props or miniatures, since the action is still confined to the Headreaver‘s main deck. My Noble Knight pick of the episode is En Route III: The Road Less Traveled by Atlas Games, a d20/3.5 side trek book from which I got the whole idea of the time-traveling or dimension-hopping Qwrth observer. If you prefer PDFs, you can get one from e23. I also give props to Game Kastle in Santa Clara, CA, which filled in as my friendly local game store for a couple of days while I was visiting San Jose.

I hope that you enjoy “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 2,” and that you’ll return for the continuation in “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 3″!

Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 54: Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 1

After almost a month’s delay, I’m delighted to finally present episode 54, “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 1″! Please listen now or subscribe via iTunes. This episode features the following segments:

  • Weighing Anchor: Jeff Greiner, host of the Tome Show, calls for your initiative roll. Yes, twice in a row. There’s a reason for that.
  • The Staging Area: I announce Icosahedrophilia’s new status as a member podcast on the Vorpal Network. Then I briefly recap the events of “City of the Pirate Kings, Part 5.” For a full campaign recap, listen to the new Story Thus Far episode, which summarizes the entire campaign to date, and which I will update adn republish at the end of each story arc.
  • The Weather Report: The PCs continue to explore the ship they believe to be Urlglar’s flagship—only to discover that this ship sails under the command of Urlglar’s right-hand man bugbear, Captain Gnash.
  • The Prop Shop: There’s really not much here this episode (see the episode 53 show notes for photos of the layout for Gnash’s ship), except for my first pick of the episode for Noble Knight: Harrowing Halls, the latest set of Dungeon Tiles from Wizards of the Coast (also available in the Icosahedrophilia aStore).

I hope that you enjoy “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 1,” and that you’ll return for the continuation in “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 2″!

Icosahedrophilia Podcast: The Story Thus Far

This morning I published a new special installment in the Icosahedrophilia podcast. “The Story Thus Far” summarizes the entire campaign, adventure by adventure, up to the present. From now on, each time we reach the conclusion of an adventure arc (on the podcast), I will update “The Story Thus Far” so that new users always have a convenient jumping-on point. Enjoy!

Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 53: City of the Pirate Kings, Part 5

Well … apparently I failed to post the show notes for episode 53, “City of the Pirate Kings, Part 5,” when I actually published the episode almost a month ago! Please listen now or subscribe via iTunes. This episode features the following segments:

  • Weighing Anchor: Jeff Greiner, host of the Tome Show, calls for your initiative roll.
  • The Staging Area: I briefly recap the events of “City of the Pirate Kings,” part 4. For a full campaign recap, listen to the Staging Area for episode 49—or the new Story Thus Far episode, which didn’t exist at the time I published episode 52.
  • The Weather Report: The PCs board a pirate vessel flying Urlglar’s colors, and (naturally) clash with the goblins and hobgoblins defending the ship.
  • The Prop Shop: I briefly describe my use of the High Seas Warship and High Seas Dragon Ship sets of e-Adventure Tiles by SkeletonKey Games to lay out the pirate ship that the PCs boarded in this play segment. I also promote the Tome Show—especially episode 127, on which I join host Jeff Greiner and others for a group review of Underdark.

I hope that you enjoy “City of the Pirate Kings, Part 5,” and that you’ll return for the beginning of our next adventure, “Clash with the Pirate Kings, Part 1″!

Dungeon Tiles Index update

In celebration of the release of the latest Dungeon Tiles set, Harrowing Halls—which adds nice 3D elements to the Dungeon Tiles line—I have updated my Dungeon Tiles Index to include not only Harrowing Halls tiles, but also the tiles from the 2009 Free RPG Day adventure, Khyber’s Harvest, and the 2009 DM Rewards tiles. In addition, I’ve reorganized the listings, such that all tile dimensions are given with the smaller number first (like at the lumber yard), and all tiles appear in ascending order of size within their sets (triangular and round[ed] tiles appear in separate clusters). I hope you find the index useful!
