Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 10: Isla Calipha, Part 1

With episode 10 of the Icosahedrophilia podcast, we move into our third adventure, “Isla Calipha,” which we played on September 20, 2008. Please listen now or subscribe via iTunes. This episode features the following segments:

  • The Staging Area: Since this episode kicks off a new adventure, I didn’t go into a lot of recap in this episode’s Staging Area. Instead, I shared the exciting news that the band Nox Arcana has given us permission to use their music in the podcast and in the background behind the actual play session itself.
  • The Weather Report: The PCs tie up some loose ends from “The Wellspring,” collecting food, water, wood, and other needs, before sailing west from the deserted island featured in the previous adventure. After a couple of days of sailing, the Broken Promise crew spot a tall island looming out of the sea. The island is shaped like a C, and its top rises far above the waves; two large statues resembling human women and signs reading “Welcome!” in multiple languages greet the PCs. The Broken Promise sails into the bay, where they learn that this place is “Isla Calipha, the finest pleasure island in all the Thousand Lands.” The wary PCs then spend some time poking around the island.
  • The Prop Shop: The first hour of the “Isla Calipha” adventure had no tactical encounters, so the miniatures and battlemaps stayed off to the side in this adventure. In this episode’s Prop Shop, I dropped a couple of additional hints about what will happen in subsequent installments, made the appropriate thanks and acknowledgements, and played a promo for the 3.5 Private Sanctuary podcast.

Usually I would provide more detailed show notes at the other end of a “Read more” link, but for this episode, there’s not much more to tell, except to provide a map of diagram of the island layout:

Thanks for listening to “Isla Calipha, Part 1,” and please join us again for “Isla Calipha, Part 2″!
