Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 29: A Rite Most Foul, Part 2

This prime-numbered episode of the Icosahedrophilia podcast brings our heroes challenges old and new! We played through “A Rite Most Foul” on November 29, 2008, and are pleased to present part 2 of that adventure as part of our ongoing Icosahedrophilia marathon. Please listen to episode 29 now or subscribe via iTunes. This episode features the following segments:

  • The Staging Area: I recap “A Rite Most Foul, Part 1,” and describe in more detail the mysterious door that blocks the PCs’ way as part 2 begins. My door description includes references to Dan Smith’s Tengwar Sindarin font and the Cthulhu Runes font by the now-defunct Omega Font Labs.
  • The Weather Report: The PCs decode the door and solve its riddle, then take a while to figure out how to apply that answer to open the door. In the darkness beyond, strange creatures lie in ambush.
  • The Prop Shop: I describe my use of Dungeon Tiles (from sets DT5 Lost Caverns of the Underdark and DT7 Fane of the Forgotten Gods—both available for only $7.95 each from FRP Games), and plug the upcoming Worldwide D&D Game Day.

We hope that you enjoy listening to “A Rite Most Foul, Part 2,” and that you’ll follow our heroes deeper underground in “A Rite Most Foul, Part 3,” coming to you in the next day or two as our Icosahedrophilia marathon continues its blazing pace!
