Nowadays, I love Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeon Tiles series, but I hesitated when the product was first released because I wanted more clarity about exactly what I’d get in the sets. I created this resource page to help potential Dungeon Tiles buyers know what to expect from each product. Please note that “triangle n” means a quasi-triangular tile with n squares on the two equal sides. Most of the “triangles” in the dungeon tiles sets are actually 1/4 octagons.

For the wooden floors, assume that the boards are oriented in the same direction as the long side of the tile; for example, on a 2×4 tile, assume that the long sides of the boards that make up the floor run parallel to the long sides of the tile itself. The notation “cross grain” indicates that the long sides of the boards run parallel to the short side of the tile itself. Obviously, this makes no difference for square tiles. The notation “L grain” indicates that the boards comprising the floor are laid out in repeating L shapes. A “hall” has openings on opposite sides; a “room” is enclosed on all four sides, with one or two entrances.
